5.02.09 - Treatment with tadalafil looks promising
Researchers of the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam studied the effect of the drug tadalafil on the reduced bloodflow in CRPS patients. They also looked wether it would reduce the pain and improve daily functioning.
After treatment with tadalafil no significant change in temperature could be found. However, there was a significant and clinicly relevant decrease in pain experienced by the patients who received the drug. Furthermore, a small improvement in daily functioning was found.
Based on the results of this study tadalafil looks like a promising drug in the treatment of the cold variant of CRPS. Further research is necessary before it can be used in actual treatment.
