CRPS is usually preceded by a trauma like a fracture, inflammation or operation. In 3-11% of all cases however the disease develops spontaneously. De Rooij and others (LUMC Leiden) compared ‘spontaneous’ CRPS patients with trauma related CRPS patients. The results have recently been published in the European Journal of Pain.
The standard treatments of pain in CRPS ltaten op. Sigtermans and others studied the effect of S(+)-ketamine on pain reduction in CRPS. The results were recently published in Pain.
As part of the international co-operation strategy TREND is looking at the possibilities of joining forces with the Balgrist Uniklinik in Zürich.
Following the exploratory meetings the swiss researchers are working on a proposal for a cohort study. In the fall TREND will review the co-operation possibilities further.
