CRPS is usually preceded by a trauma like a fracture, inflammation or operation. In 3-11% of all cases however the disease develops spontaneously. De Rooij and others (LUMC Leiden) compared ‘spontaneous’ CRPS patients with trauma related CRPS patients. The results have recently been published in the European Journal of Pain.
The standard treatments of pain in CRPS ltaten op. Sigtermans and others studied the effect of S(+)-ketamine on pain reduction in CRPS. The results were recently published in Pain.
On Friday the 17th of October Feikje Wesseldijk will take her doctoral degree by defending her PhD thesis ‘Inflammatory soup. Mediators of inflammation in CRPS’.
