CRPS is usually preceded by a trauma like a fracture, inflammation or operation. In 3-11% of all cases however the disease develops spontaneously. De Rooij and others (LUMC Leiden) compared ‘spontaneous’ CRPS patients with trauma related CRPS patients. The results have recently been published in the European Journal of Pain.
The standard treatments of pain in CRPS ltaten op. Sigtermans and others studied the effect of S(+)-ketamine on pain reduction in CRPS. The results were recently published in Pain.
As part of the 20 year anniversary the Dutch Association of PD Patients organises a congress with contributions from various TREND researchers. Friday 21 November is a day for doctors and researchers and Saturday 22 November is for patients.
