CRPS is usually preceded by a trauma like a fracture, inflammation or operation. In 3-11% of all cases however the disease develops spontaneously. De Rooij and others (LUMC Leiden) compared ‘spontaneous’ CRPS patients with trauma related CRPS patients. The results have recently been published in the European Journal of Pain.
The standard treatments of pain in CRPS ltaten op. Sigtermans and others studied the effect of S(+)-ketamine on pain reduction in CRPS. The results were recently published in Pain.
From 2 to 4 April the second international conference on Psychogenic Movement Disorders and other conversion disorders will take place in Washington D.C.
Prof. dr. Bob van Hilten is one of the speakers during this conference. The title of his lecture will be: “CRPS – pain field perspective”.
The congress is organised by the Movement Disorder Society.
